You may notice a faint vertical seam, a hallmark of authentic pressed glass.  This reflects the moment the mould opens, and is gently fire-polished as part of the finishing process. This subtle line is a natural part of the glass’s character, especially on pieces with embossed designs.

Pressed glass is created by forming molten glass inside a mould under pressure.  La Rochère’s traditional glassware is machine-pressed using a two-part mould, allowing the glassmaker to create the distinctive embossed motifs, textured surfaces and substantial shapes for which many La Rochère collections are known.

Why is there sometimes a seam on La Rochère glassware?

A faint vertical seam can sometimes be seen or felt on authentic La Rochère pressed glass.  This is created where the two parts of the mould meet during production and is a natural characteristic of the traditional pressed-glass manufacturing process rather than a fault.

Subtle variations and mould lines are part of the character of this style of French glassware and help tell the story of how each piece is made.

Is La Rochère glass dishwasher safe?

Yes.  Standard La Rochère pressed glassware is designed for everyday use and is dishwasher safe.  For best results, we recommend using the top rack where possible, selecting a gentle cycle and avoiding sudden temperature changes.

Specialised pieces such as gold-rimmed or mouth-blown glassware should be hand-washed, so always check the individual product page for specific care instructions.

Can La Rochère glass be used for hot drinks?

Some La Rochère collections are specifically designed for coffee, tea and other warm drinks.  However, not every La Rochère glass should automatically be treated as heat-resistant glassware.
