The story of La Rochère dates back to the 15th century in the region of Burgundy-Franche-Comté. Simon de Thysac, a skilled glassmaker, carefully chose the Vosges mountains as the location for his factory due to its strategic and economic advantages. This region was a bustling hub of trade between the North and the South, connecting Italy and the Netherlands. Moreover, it was known for its strong ties to Europe. With plentiful resources like wood, silica, and water, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté proved to be an ideal source of raw materials for the factory.
